If you want to leave out the 5/16" anchor bolt and not drill the frame web, use spacers or a wedged leather strap to keep frame arm from moving as handlebars are turned.

CROCKER Steering Dampers for Chiefs, 1946-1953

Complete Assembly. Direct replacement of original bakelite unit. Black enamel paint highlights lettering. Stainless steel rod. Chromed - $120. Plain - $80.

Traditionally mounts in front of handlebars. For 1946-1948 chiefs with a poor bond between the rubber inserts and the risers, install this damper behind the risers as a temporary measure to keep the handlebars from sliding down onto the instrument panel.
